Quilting on layouts

One of the new scrapbooking trends I’ve noticed lately has been achieving a “quilted” effect on layout. I really love the look of quilting, but I have no patience to actually sew a quilt – but I do love making quilting patterns with paper!! Here’s a layout that I made that has a definite quilted pattern. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the pattern and I pieced them together, then machine stitched some of the areas to really make it look like a quilt.

For this card, I simply diecut a butterfly shape and then layered strips of leftover patterned paper under the body. It sort of looks like a crazy quilt! After attaching the butterfly to the card, I did some machine stitching across some of the strips.

Both of these techniques were very easy to do, but give both projects a very unique look! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you try some quilting on your paper projects!!
